Depends on what you want. If you want something romanitc and laid back, go to Charleston, SC if you want a party atmosphere go to Myrtle Beach if you want the first but to be at the beach try James Island, the Isle of Palm, or Folly Beach all of which are minutes away from Charleston

Everyone seems to be saying Myrtle Beach, SC. That is a great vacation spot and you can get hotel catalog for free from http://www.mbchamber.com. It’s called “Stay and Play” It has a list of all the hotels on one side and on the other it tells about all of the area attractions. Usually the book also comes with coupons for different places. There are a lot of fun mini golf courses all over the place down there and of course the Pavilion. Lots of fun rides and games. Then there is Ripley’s Aquarium…..Best one I have ever been to. Hard Rock Cafe, Planet Hollywood, and lots of other shops over on Broadway at the Beach. There is always something to do there.
Other great places are Charleston, SC, Wilmington, NC, Carolina Beach, NC. Or you can go to the mountains. The Blue Ridge Parkway is beautiful and quiet. Not much to do there though except look at the scenery.

Asheville, NC- funky little city near the mountains. Also recently saw it in a “Top 100 secret places in the US” in a Brit magazine.
Myrtle Beach is very tourist-y but it does have a lot to do
Ocracoke, NC is a really awesome vacation spot– beach, cool shops, good food, and/but hard to get to

N.C. – The Outer Banks – Nags Head, Kitty Hawk, etc. S.C. – Myrtle Beach Both areas are great and have an offering of lots to do for Mom and Dad AND the KIDS !! Have fun – spend time at both locations – they aren’t that far away from each other.

Emerald Island and or Atlantic Beach. Nice quiet area with a little bit of night life if you look real hard.
