The Folly Beach is a six mile long beach located in Charleston County, South Carolina. This beach known as the edge of America is an ideal place for relaxation and enjoyment. It has a light house, a maritime forest and several historical sites .All types of water sports activities are possible here and the place is best for windsurfing. Here are some of the beach activities for tourists and holiday seekers.
Picnic in Folly Beach:
One of the best picnic spots, the County Park is situated on west end between the Atlantic Ocean and the Folly River. The County Park at the west end of Folly Beach has the Pelecan Watch facility where shelters, rest rooms, showers and dressing facilities are available. The amenities for rental include boogie boards, umbrellas, bicycles and chairs.
Swimming:
There is access to swimming at the end of every block of the beach. The centre street beach is located on both sides of the Folly Beach Fishing Pier. The County Park is located at the west end of the island. Boogie boards and Jet skis are available for rent in these beaches. It is important to take care of the dead Jelly fish here which are harmful.
Bicycling:
If you want to explore the island, bicycling is the best method you can try. There are adult beach bikes and BMX style bikes for children available for rent in the Folly Beach.
Golf courses:
Several stunning golf courses are present in Folly Beach, South Carolina. The Charleston National Country Club is the best non resort golf course having the finest practice facilities in the area. The Kiawah Island Golf is located at 21 miles south of Charleston.
Kayaking:
Kayaking in Folly beach is an year round activity but it is more enjoyable in warmer months. Guided kayak tours are offered by many companies in the area. Those who want to escape from the beach crowd can paddle with the Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins during this tour.
Community Park:
The Community Park is an ideal place for relaxation and leisure. The park has children’s playground, teeter-totters and jungle gym.
Camping:
The James Island County Park is best for camping. The 643 miles state park offers paved trails for walking, biking and skating. It has 10 acres of open meadows, fishing and crabbing dock and children’s playground.
Jet Ski:
The Jet Ski rental companies are located on the beach. The timing will be one hour or half hour for a fixed charge.
Parasailing:
The Parasailing service in Folly Beach is offered under highly experienced Captain for a high flying experience over the beach.

The 2011 Spoleto Festival of USA will be held in Charleston, South Carolina from May 27 to June 12.Founded in 1977 by Pulitzer Prize winner Gian Carlo Menotti, this arts festival is a great event to provide the young artists an opportunity to work with veterans in the field of classical music, opera, theater, music, dance and jazz. Artists around the world offer more than 120 performances during this 17 day event. Many of the festival events are free but some require advance tickets.
World Grits Festival- South Carolina

World Grits Festival is held in St. George, South Carolina in the month of April every year. Thousands of grits lovers take part in this competition. Since the residents of St. George consume more grits, the place is called grits capital of the world. Therefore this food festival is held every year and it involves a lot of fun.
In this festival the participants roll in grits, eat grits breakfast and grits dinner. The main event of the festival consists of taking part in a grits rolling competition. The participants roll in a tub filled with cooked grits and try to get as much grits as possible on their body. They wear big hats and loose pants with lots of pockets to get more pounds of grits.
