In addition to the Market in downtown mentioned above, King Street in downtown offers some good window shopping and lunch spots. If she likes games or mini golf or things of that nature, there is Frankie's Fun Park on Ashley Phosphate near Dorchester Rd.

Don't totally discount the beach idea though. We seem to be heading towards some unseasonably warm temperatures, and even without them, some of my favorite days have been bundling up warmly, walking with a friend on the deserted beach at Folly, then scurrying back home for hot chocolate and a movie rental with my friends. Sure it's kind of campy but it's fun, cheap, and memorable. (It also tends to quickly wear down that infamous teenage energy). If she enjoys outdoor activity, consider renting a couple of bikes and cycling over the new bridge. There is a separate walking / biking lane railed off and the views are worth the walk.

Hope these suggestions help.

For a day trip, after touring Charleston...drive an hour south to Savannah, GA, one of my fav. places in the world. Similar to Charleston in historic value, but I actually like it better. Shop and lunch along the river walk.
