Sorry, but the Southwest is far sunnier than Florida. Phoenix and Las Vegas are the sunniest cities in the US. (That was for Bradley). I would still recommend Florida, or maybe South Carolina, since you are looking for East Coast sun.

I live in Panama City, so you know where I suggest. It got up to 82 this last week, and Florida has more sunny days per year then any other state. If you want something a little more quiet, then Spartanburg, SC is a nice place.
